Still Think It’s All About “Pollution”?

Joanne Nova does the math and provides its empirical evidence to back up what many of us have been saying for some time now.  The science of gobal warming is a myth designed solely as a means for a few to gain power and control through the creation of a new kind of commodity, sold to the dim-witted using the psychology of fear.

She sums it up like this:

  • The US government has provided over $79 billion since 1989 on policies related to climate change, including science and technology research, foreign aid, and tax breaks.
  • Despite the billions:  “audits” of the science are left to unpaid volunteers. A dedicated but largely uncoordinated grassroots movement of scientists has sprung up around the globe to test the integrity of the theory and compete with a well funded highly organized climate monopoly. They have exposed major errors.
  • Carbon trading worldwide reached $126 billion in 2008. Banks are calling for more carbon-trading. And experts are predicting the carbon market will reach $2 – $10 trillion making carbon the largest single commodity traded.
  • Meanwhile in a distracting sideshow, Exxon-Mobil Corp is repeatedly attacked for paying a grand total of $23 million to skeptics—less than a thousandth of what the US government has put in, and less than one five-thousandth of the value of carbon trading in just the single year of 2008.

She then poses the question:

  • The large expenditure in search of a connection between carbon and climate creates enormous momentum and a powerful set of vested interests. By pouring so much money into one theory, have we inadvertently created a self-fulfilling prophesy instead of an unbiased investigation?

We’ve pointed out here that “researchers” at the IPCC are contracted to and paid for by governments with vested interests in dreams of wealth and political power from cap & trade.  Governments who are egged on, and the politicians within them financially supported, by people like Al Gore and by companies like General Electric, who’ve already invested heavily in and positioned themselves with, in particular, the United States government in order to monopolize what they see as potential of a new world market.

If this were simply capitalism, I’d be all for it.  But like the empirical science that says global warming is an inconvenient myth, the empirical math once again proves the insanity of trying to fix what was never broken in the first place.

New Jersey Starts Taking Out Its Trash?

The state that gave us La Raza supporter Senator Robert Menendez found federal and IRS dragnets sweeping across the state this morning to arrest 30 people, among them Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano and Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, as well as several area rabbis and other community leaders and politicians, including Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega.

It appears to be a corruption-related investigation but Justice Department and FBI spokesmen would only say the corruption involved a “high-volume international money-laundering conspiracy.”  It is said to involve rabbis in the Syrian Jewish enclave in Brooklyn and Deal, New Jersey.  The probe is said to have started when money transfers drew the interests of the feds who followed the trail back to small-town Jersey corruption.

Officials say separate from the corruption probe, some of the suspects charged today were also connected to an illegal human organ-selling ring.   Investigators say some charged would take cash payments to help find organs for sick patients in need of transplants.  It’s unclear where the body parts might have come from or how many surgeries may have been done.  The FBI,  IRS and U.S. Attorney’s office all declined comment saying details will be given at the press conference.

You can bet the ties (and lies) that eventually come out of this will prove to be interesting.

The Unholy Trinity Taking Aim At Honduras

July 23, 2009 By Joan of Snark

Though the ADD media did little more than their usual hit & run on recent events in Honduras before glomming onto more important things like the death of Michael Jackson, Accuracy In Media has posted a detailed report that connects some rather chilling dots between the U.N., President Obama, and Hugo Chavez, and poses legitimate questions of their real intentions.

This also begs the question of Obama’s loyalty to the United States, for interference in the fate of Honduras appears to also be tied to affairs in Iran.

The United Nations on Thursday begins a debate over a new U.N. military doctrine called the “Responsibility to Protect,” which would authorize the world organization to be used as cover to intervene in the sovereign affairs of a nation state, supposedly to protect the people of a country against their own government. The first target could be anti-communist Honduras.

In an ominous development, blogger Jason Poblete, an astute observer of Latin American affairs with excellent sources, reports that “The Obama Administration is considering a United Nations Security Council Resolution against the constitutional government of Honduras.” If true, anticipated U.N. sanctions against Honduras could be followed by the world organization being used as cover for outside forces to invade Honduras and reinstate Zelaya.

Zelaya flew from Costa Rica, where he was deported, to U.N. headquarters in New York, where D’Escoto, who is also a Communist Catholic Priest from Nicaragua, greeted him as a comrade. Since the crisis began and the U.N. voted to have him reinstated, the Obama Administration has been trying to figure out a way to get him back into power. Costa Rican President Oscar Arias recently hosted some negotiations to try to resolve the dispute but they appear to be going nowhere.

The U.N. may be the logical next step, if Zelaya’s allies in the region don’t act precipitously on their own and intervene. Chavez has already threatened to invade Honduras to put Zelaya back in power.

On July 13, the State Department spokesman confirmed that Chavez had called Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Thomas Shannon to “discuss the current situation in Honduras and the ongoing negotiations mediated by Costa Rica’s President Oscar Arias.” The confirmation followed news of Chavez boasting about the telephone call on Venezuelan state TV.

This tends to confirm what former Marxist SDS radical Tom Hayden, leader of “Progressives for Obama,” has written about the Obama-Chavez relationship. Based on his own inside sources of information, Hayden said that he thinks Obama and Chavez are working together on Honduras and have an “understanding,” which he even describes as “collaboration.” The call Chavez made to Shannon suggests that Chavez is calling the shots.

Ultimately, according to a very detailed report by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, part of the Israel Intelligence Heritage and Commemoration Center, this would benefit Iran, a terrorist state developing nuclear weapons which is developing a vast network throughout Latin America. A recent report from the organization examines the deep Iranian connections to Venezuela as well as Bolivia.

We here continue to stand by the people of Honduras and their upholding of their constitution.  It is humiliating that our President refuses to do the same.

It is also a dangerous walk on a very thin line.  Article III, section 3 of the United States Constitution states:  “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

…the Hayden article strongly suggests that the Obama policy is not the result of incompetence or inexperience but is deliberate in nature.

Hayden, once a famous anti-Vietnam War protester in his own right and former official of the Marxist Students for a Democratic Society, claims that “something profoundly new began developing between Obama and Chavez at the hemispheric conference in April in Trinidad.

According to eyewitness sources, under the apparently blind eye of the global media, the two leaders had lengthy conversations. The media covered the friendly photo of the initial handshake between the two leaders, then made much ado about an apparently-impertinent Chavez handing Obama a book in Spanish by Eduardo Galleano. What has not been reported is that Obama, leaving his advisers behind, held lengthy private conversations with Chavez where only an interpreter was present.

In December 2007 his [Chavez’s] regime hosted a conference devoted to staging a communist revolution in the United States. The panel discussion on “United States: A possible revolution” was described as the central event at the third Venezuela International Book Fair.

According to an article in The Militant, the newspaper of the Socialist Workers Party, the forum included presentations by “Mary-Alice Waters, a member of the Socialist Workers Party National Committee and president of Pathfinder Press; Eva Golinger, a Venezuelan-American lawyer and author of The Chávez Code; Chris Carlson, a contributor to the venezuelanalysis.com website; and Tufara Waller, cultural program coordinator of the Highlander Center in Tennessee.”

Other panelists were identified as “Bernardo Alvarez, Venezuela’s ambassador to the United States; former University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill; August Nimtz, a University of Minnesota political science professor; William Blum, an author who has written a number of books opposing U.S. foreign policy; ex-Maryknoll priest Charles Hardy; and Dada Maheshvarananda, yoga instructor and founder of the Prout Institute.”

The communist paper reported that, before there could be a revolution in the United States, Marxist forces would have to take control of Latin America. “Another idea frequently expressed by speakers from the floor and by a few panelists was that ‘change has to come from the South,'” referring to Latin America, the paper said.

Please note that the above details were copied directly from the recovery.gov website as they appeared as of the posting time of this piece.  If you go to an entry and the information has changed, well, all we can say is that perhaps it wasn’t the waiter’s dumbness that needed to be fixed.

Or it’s all about that “transparency”.

UPDATE from Jake Tapper’s blog.  Because you knew there was going to be an “Oops!” associated with this:

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack just issued a statement referring to the $100 million available to the states for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) through the stimulus bill. TEFAP, he said, “acquires food that is distributed to local organizations that assist the needy – including food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens.”

Said Vilsack: “The Recovery Act funds referenced in press reports allowed states to purchase ham, cheese and dairy products for these food banks, soup kitchens and food pantries that provide assistance to people who otherwise do not have access to food. This program will help reduce hunger of those hardest hit by the current economic recession. The references to ‘2 pound frozen ham sliced’ are to the sizes of the packaging.  Press reports suggesting that the Recovery Act spent $1.191 million to buy “2 pounds of ham” are wrong. In fact, the contract in question purchased 760,000 pounds of ham for $1.191m, at a cost of approximately $1.50 per pound. In terms of the dairy purchase referenced, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) purchased 837,936 pounds of mozzarella cheese and 4,039,200 pounds of processed cheese.”

Vilsack said that the “principal purpose of these expenditures is to provide food to those hardest hit by these tough times” though they also offer “a modest economic benefit of benefiting Americans working at food retailers, manufacturers and transportation companies as well as the farmers and ranchers who produce our food supply.”

But here’s the bottom line as mandated by our Constitution:  While this is all nice and warm & fuzzy, people who aren’t in the “tough times” affected states are not responsible for the problems created by the governments of those “tough times” affected states.  If they wish to donate to an organization set up to help fund these types of charities, terrific and more power to them for Americans are nothing if not generous.  But if not, just like abortions, they should not be forced to pay for them with their tax dollars.

Obama Now Wants To Run Medicare

July 20, 2009 By Joan of Snark

It’s time for yet another Obama power grab.  The AP reported on Saturday that President Obama wants Congress to give him the power to “limit” the rising costs of Medicare.  A White House letter to top lawmakers on Friday proposed an “independent advisory board” who would look at Medicare reimbursement rates and make recommendations and said the move would be “a critical step forward” in controlling health care costs and providing better care.

Obama would have the power to approve the board’s recommendations, and Congress could “still vote to reject them altogether”.  But this would be an all-or-nothing vote; meaning that if there’s one bad apple, they would have to accept or reject the whole bushel.

State’s rights, varying costs of living across the country and all that good stuff currently set rates regionally.  Obama, the man who has no business experience, the man who has no financial experience except spending other people’s money, the man who thinks spending money on old people who are going to die anyway isn’t necessary, wants that to stop.

Perhaps he fears that his health care “reform” isn’t going to fly and this is a way to insinuate himself into our lives in a different way?  Regardless the reasons, it’s a wicked bad idea and should be promptly tossed into the circular file.

We don’t need no stinkin’ Medicare czar.  Especially when that czar is Barck Hussein Obama.

Quote Of The Day

From the Congressional Record, House of Representatives – June 02, 2009

(Mr. SMITH of Texas asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)

“Mr. Speaker, at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Obama joked to the reporters in attendance: “Most of you covered me. All of you voted for me.”

“Some jokes are true; and, unfortunately, this joke is on the American people.

“According to Investor’s Business Daily, journalists who gave campaign money to then-Senator Obama outnumbered those who contributed to Senator McCain by a 20-1 margin. The media gave money to him. They voted for him. Now they’re giving him a free pass.

“According to one analysis, network newscasts have portrayed the President as a deficit fighter five times more often than they have portrayed him as a big spender even though his budget will double the national debt in 5 years and will triple it in 10.

“Yes, the media voted for President Obama, but they should not allow their voting to influence their reporting.”

Cap & Traders Shanghaiing America

Reuters reported on Friday that Commerce Secretary Gary Locke told the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai that Americans should pay for China’s greenhouse polluting.

Yes, you read that right.  Americans and our consumption of Chinese-made goods is the reason China is such a big global warming bad guy.

“It’s important that those who consume the products being made all around the world to the benefit of America — and it’s our own consumption activity that’s causing the emission of greenhouse gases, then quite frankly Americans need to pay for that.”

Ummm…ok, Gary.  Why don’t you explain to Americans just how that jives with the fact that China’s pollution is a result of their production of steel, cement, aluminium, paper and chemicals, most of which are consumed in China rather than exported?

In contrast, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions come mainly from domestic consumption, such as fuels to heat and cool buildings and to power vehicles.  Only about 25 percent of U.S. emissions are caused by factories.

De Nile about global warming ain’t just a river in Egypt any more.  Apparently it’s now also a river in China down which Americans are being shanghaied.

Mr. Walpin Goes To Washington

July 19, 2009 By Joan of Snark

To the United States Court for the District of Columbia, to be exact.  It’s not making the mainstream media news, but Gerald Walpin, the U.S. Inspector General who was illegally strong-armed to resign by -ironically in any other world – the President’s Special Council for Ethics and Government Reform and when he refused found himself quickly fired from his position last month for insisting rules be followed during an AmeriCorps audit that found gross misuse of funds by Kevin Johnson, former NBA player and, wouldn’t you know it, one of President Obama’s close friends, has filed a lawsuit against the Corporation for National and Community Service (it oversees AmeriCorps).  The suit alleges the firing was “unlawful,” “politically driven,” “procedurally defective” and “a transparent and clumsily-conducted effort to circumvent the protections” given to inspectors general under the Inspectors General Reform Act of 2008.  The lawsuit also rightfully raises questions about age discrimination based on the flimsy “excuses” that finally dribbled out from the Orchid Office, as well as questions about whistleblower retaliation.

As has been documented, no one except Mr. Walpin followed the law where AmeriCorps or the Corporation for National and Community Service are concerned, so our hats are off to him for standing up for what’s right.  Tellingly, he isn’t seeking punative damages, only that the Court declare his firing was unlawful, reinstatement of his position, and that his attorney fees be paid.

Now unless there are critical facts of which we are yet unaware (the “personality conflicts” being bandied about by some in an attempt to discredit Mr. Walpin do not count when documenting how taxpayer monies are used), this case stands to bring transparency to the workings of the Obama administration.  The  kind of transparency that can finally begin to bring about the change America needs, not the change Obama and merry band of thieves want.

Michigan’s Gary Peters Covets Your Tax Dollars

July 18, 2009 By Joan of Snark

There’s a new ad running on Michigan television this month.  It’s asking the people of Michigan to call state representative Gary Peters (D-MI 9th District) and thank him for his support of clean energy.  Why?

As Henry Payne notes in a piece for the National Review, “…windmills can’t power 80-acre auto plants. Never mind conservative think tank studies that predict a doubling in utility rates and a 74 percent increase in gas prices if cap-and-trade should pass. President Obama himself knows that cap-and-trade would be costly to consumers — which is why candidate Obama promised that the proceeds from the tax would be redistributed to consumers.“

So why the tv ads?  As always, follow the money.

The ad is paid for by Al Gore.  Who stands to make billions off cap & trade.

The Detroit News reported back in May that Peters, et Midwest-al, cut deals with the government to use a series of government programs to funnel your hard-earned tax money and the increased costs you will pay under the boat anchor of cap & trade over to the auto companies and the unions.  Programs buried in that 1,300+ page cap & trade bill that no one in the House could have read even if they’d wanted to before they voted to pass it.

So Peters, et Midwest-al, can later rake in millions in campaign contributions from the auto companies and the labor unions.

Feel free to let Gary Peters know what you think of his efforts for the state with the nation’s highest rate of unemployment and his plans for your future tax dollars by clicking HERE.

News Or OpEd? It’s All The Same To The Mainstream Media

Newsweek’s latest issue carries an article criticizing Alaska governor Sarah Palin as its draw to dissect what’s wrong with the Republican party.  Regardless your opinion of her or about the charges made against Republicans in general, there is an important point about the piece and the choice made by its editor, Jon Meacham, that must be understood.

The author, Rick Perlstein is a “pot, kettle, black” left-wing blogger who spent a great deal of time and effort writing for a liberal site called “Campaign for America’s Future.”  One of his “interests” is listed, by him, as “conservative failure.”  In 2007, Perlstein wrote, “I’ve just become a proud Fox [News] attacker.  Now, you can too.  It’s not a boycott.  It’s simply calling advertisers and informing them what Fox says.  Fox can’t survive that.”

Unfortunately, for all his wishful dissing of FOX, they’re now hauling in the overwhelming majority of ratings as average Americans begin to question what’s really behind all the “hope and change”.

But the point is that Newsweek is posting the work of an opinion writer in the guise of journalism.  They aren’t telling you that the “analysis” presented wasn’t done by a reporter, but instead by a self-perceived political pundit with an agenda and an ax to grind.

This is why Newsweek and so many other mainstream publications are gasping in their final death throes.  And rightfully so.
