A Letter To The Deliberately Clueless

Dear Mr. President,

I’m “waving my tea bag around” with both anger and with  pride because I, along with over a million other Americans willing to do the same, stand for something.  And that something is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights of the United States of America.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because the principles upon which this country was built are what allowed you, Mr. President, and your wife to attend college.  In fact, it was MY money you borrowed and were given in grants as a result of my working hard and paying my taxes.  And it was then my money again that you used to pay me back because just who do you think was helping to pay your salary when you were supposed to be representing the state of Illinois in the Senate those 2 years you spent on the campaign trail?  And who do you think was the real source of those federal tax dollars used by those “community organizing” groups who paid you to hone the skills necessary to subvert the laws of this land?

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because despite their great publicity, you apparently could not be bothered to notice that an enormous outcry against yours and Congress’ self-serving, spendthrift ways was taking place on April 15th.  Even though it is your job to know what is happening in this country.

Which tells me that I wasted my money sending you to college.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because just like the vitriolic drool running down the chins and spilling over onto the keyboards of your lapdog mainstream media reporters, you have the audacity to use their very same tactics when forced to acknowledge there is a great and growing groundswell against your ideologies and attempts to manifest them against the will of at least half of the American people.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because when I say the pledge of allegiance, I am able to recite it clearly.  Unlike you, who were somehow unable to properly voice your oath of office in January; and it is irrelevant whether that was because the words were not given to you on a teleprompter or because you choked over having to actually say them out loud and really mean them after 20 years of listening to your chosen preacher tell you “God DAMN America”.  In that moment, you told those who have eyes to see exactly where you stand and it is NOT on the side of America.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because the 1st Amendment’s the right to free speech still lives despite your efforts to silence anyone who disagrees with you, and I find it deplorable that a high school teacher would bully a student who chooses to read news at an outlet like Foxnews.com instead of what is, in their opinion, a more “acceptable” one.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because I do NOT apologize for the actions taken by your predecessors to keep this country safe.  Nor will I apologize for their actions and the trillions of hard-earned citizen tax dollars sent by this “arrogent” society to other countries to help alleviate their poverty and help them create a similar republican form of government.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because I will not bow down to anyone.  Not to you, and especially not to those who harbor or outright encourage people doing everything possible to wipe us off the face of the Earth.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because your rights end where mine begin.  I pledged my allegiance to this country.  You, on the other hand, get only the respect due your office.  Anything further must be earned but during your first 100 days you have done nothing towards that end.

When all is said and done, I’m “waving my tea bag around” because I’m ashamed that there are people who will judge us by your hypocritical actions and because for the first time in my life I no longer feel safe in my own country.  The heart and soul that is America is something good and honorable.  It is not childish, petulant, lying, selfish, or blatantly stupid.  It doesn’t waffle or dissemble.

I’m “waving my tea bag around” because you owe the American people an apology.  If not your resignation.

Armchair Morality

The old saying goes that “hindsight is 20/20”.  We’ve all done something and later come to see that it was either a spot-on choice or a horrible one as time continues to roll on past the point of that action.

Comedien Jon Stewart, who quite frankly isn’t even worth the effort it takes to type his name this morning, recently went on the record to call former President Harry Truman a war criminal for actions taken to force the Japanese to surrender during WWII.  After a couple of days, and likely prompted by both viewer outrage and someone filling him in on a fact or two that his lonely left wing-nut brain cell couldn’t spin or deny, he attempted to make a lame retraction cum apology or…something…in order to get back in the good graces of media consumers.

The only reason for mentioning this is because Bill Whittle has a simple yet brilliant piece at PajamasTV that presents the facts surrounding the United States dropping atomic bombs on Japan.  These are facts available to anyone and after some 60-odd years you’d think it would all be common knowledge.  While adroitly proving Jon Stewart is little more than a bad comedian playing an illiterate pundit, more importantly it also points out a few things that the Obama administration also refuses to acknowledge as it continues to waffle and try to obscure facts about actions take by the Bush administration after 9/11 to keep America safe.   As it continues to pander for voter support for its fascist ideology instead of dealing with facts in order to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”.  You know, those simple yet profound words upon which that acclaimed “great orator” Barack Hussein Obama choked during his inauguration.

This should be required viewing by everyone.

Who Brings Good Things To Light?

It’s not GE.

GE is the parent company of NBC and MSNBC.  You know, the commentary…errrr…news network that continues to broadcast like it’s 2008 and they’re a founding member of ACORN?  The network that aired an interview with Hollywood’s newest self-proclaimed political analyst, Janeane Garofalo, who told the handful of viewers on April 16th that the people who attended the Tea Parties were racists and “nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks.”

Ever wonder what could possibly cause them to forsake reporting and journalism?

Bill O’Reilly connected the dots quite nicely on “The Factor” today.  It’s no secret that the financial arm of GE has received a bailout so would want to curry favor with the Feds, but that’s just smoke & mirrors.  And small change.  The real carrot that has created little more than an Obama pimp network is the money GE stands to make from cap & trade.

The Washington Examiner explained the game plan last month:

GE — a member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, which advocates cap and trade — leads the push for greenhouse gas restrictions.

In the fourth quarter of 2008 as the company’s stock fell 30 percent, GE spent $4.26 million on lobbying — that’s $46,304 each day, including weekends, Thanksgiving and Christmas. In 2008, the company spent a grand total of $18.66 million on lobbying.

Reviewing their lobbying filings, you might think you were looking at Al Gore’s agenda. GE’s specific lobbying issues included the “Climate Stewardship Act,” “Electric Utility Cap and Trade Act,” “Global Warming Reduction Act,” “Federal Government Greenhouse Gas Registry Act,” “Low Carbon Economy Act,” and “Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act.”

This isn’t altruism or public relations. GE has started a joint venture called Greenhouse Gas Services, which invests in — and hopes to manage the trade in — greenhouse gas credits. But these investments and this trading floor are of basically no use and nearly no value without government restrictions on greenhouse gases.

Hence the lobbying, buttressed by generous campaign contributions: Employees and executives gave $1.35 million to politicians in the past election while GE’s political action committee shelled out $1.55 million. About 64 percent of this $2.9 million went to Democrats, with Obama easily the top recipient of GE money.

Obama’s budget includes the payoff, promising to start a multibillion-dollar greenhouse gas industry by 2012. In a letter this week, GE’s (CEO) Immelt told shareholders that current events present an “opportunity of a lifetime,” because “capitalism will be ‘reset.’ ”

Immelt wrote: “The interaction between government and business will change forever. In a reset economy, the government will be a regulator; and also an industry policy champion, a financier, and a key partner.”

In short, GE plans to get rich by being one of the government’s closest partners — which it has always been, thanks to its unmatched lobbying efforts.

GE is also partnering up in Florida with Cisco and FPL Group Inc.’s Florida Power and Light Co., planning to create a “smart grid” system.  Which will, of course, be sticking its hand out for a piece of the stimulus pie.  Because, according to Jeffrey Immelt, “There’s a lot of money out there.  We’ve got the chance to get more action in 2009.”

Of course, when GE fails as its products aren’t being bought by all the people who have no jobs and their media numbers plummet as people become more and more disenchanted with the continuing missteps by those in Washington, the government will move in as it did with Wall Street and the banks, and Pater Obama will finally begin to feel like an equal with his buddy, Hugo Chavez.

Enlightening, isn’t it?

Smile, Tea Party Participants, You’re On FBI Surveillance Camera?

If this is true, it’s certainly disconcerting.  The Northeast Intelligence Network recently posted an editorial claiming that the FBI was very interested in attendees at the April 15th Tea Parties.

Of course, it had conveniently become common knowledge the day before the Tea Parties that the Department of Homeland Security was very concerned about right-wing extremists.  You know, those folks, including American veterans, who were growing more and more upset about the economy and such.  So I wouldn’t be the least surprised that many FBI field agents spent April 15th like many of the rest of us; but instead of protesting the tyranny of taxation with representation, they walked around taking pictures and documenting the names of organizers.  Just in case one of the participants just happened to be an everyday, run-of-the-mill, garden-variety wack job looking for any excuse to self-destruct while doing their best to take a few fellow citizens along with them.

Because we all know that any time a large number of people raise their voices in disagreement with something, there’s bound to trouble.

Methinks they ought to look closer to home.  Like maybe investigating exactly who in the Obama administration decided to lie to the American people this time?  The latest example being a misleading redaction of the Director of National Intelligence’s memo to the President concerning “enhanced interrogation techniques”.  Certain points made by Dennis Blair about the benefits of the information gained shortly after 9/11 were cut from the version published by the administration in order that it appear to support the hue and cry for a witch hunt of Bush administration advisers.

Media Bias Is Merely Commentary, Not Reporting

April 19, 2009 By Joan of Snark

I have always believed that it is the reporter’s job to report and the commentator’s job to opine.  I want to read the facts and then I want to read what people think about them.

There has been a dangerous and disturbing fall from grace in the field of journalism.  The line between reporting and commentary has become so blurred and bias has come to be considered so normal that mainstream news outlets, whether in print or television, have become little more than political propaganda machines.  It used to be that newspapers or television stations were labeled “liberal” or “conservative” based on their editorial content, but now those labels extend straight to the heart of their news pieces.

It’s a form of hypocrisy even more frightening than what we see coming from Washington itself.  I wrote last week that despite the mainstream media’s ugly, crude disparaging of the April 15th Tea Parties, they were soundly trounced in the ratings by FOX News.  Their demonizing of self-proclaimed, unashamed conservative commentators backfired, and I would hope that those who changed their channels to watch the Tea Party coverage on FOX have started to see that “conservative is a mindset, not a political party” and that it does not preclude simply reporting facts as they occur.

No better example of the  liberal bias of mainstream media can be found than when news reporter-cum-commentator-wannabe-hack, Chicago-based Susan Roesgen brought CNN’s liberal bias out of the closet.  Turned down twice for a job with FOX, her bitterness was pathetically evident, and apparently CNN had to close down her email account in response to viewer outrage over her behavior, caught by the cameras of both CNN and Tea Party attendees.

An excellent commentary on the dangerous hypocrisy in reporting may be seen here.  I would suggest that while we still have the right to do so, anyone who finds their news reporters crossing the line into hack commentary call them out on it.  Because without fairness and unbiased honesty, without truth in reporting from a free media, we really are doomed.

Don’t Breathe On Me?

Hang onto your wallet.  Odds are that if it’s not empty now it will be even sooner than your grandchildren’s paychecks are being spent by President Obama and Congress.

The Supreme Court has previously ruled that greenhouse gases are pollutants under the Clean Air Act, requiring regulation if they pose a danger.  I can’t help but think of Captain Picard on Star Trek saying, “Make it so” as the EPA releases their report stating that carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases are a danger to public health and welfare.  Like when stars align, it illuminates President Obama’s push for cap & trade and the Democrats in Congress are positively salivating over the prospects of further control over private industry; hearings begin next week on the American Clean Energy and Security Act which was introduced last month.

Among other, less obvious effects than that of significantly increasing the cost of everything from heating and cooling to food and other goods and transportation, this bill contains provisions to help people buy a new manufactured home if they live in one made before 1976, it will fund “training and funding assistance” to states that “adopt advanced building efficiency codes” and fund retrofitting existing commercial and residential buildings to improve energy efficiency.  Efficiency ratings that have yet to be determined, of course.

All that more expensive heating and cooling will eventually be controlled by a “smart grid”, run by graduates of colleges funded by government grants to develop “curriculum and training programs that prepare students for careers in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and other forms of climate change mitigation.”   Meaning that the government will decide when giving you electricity just isn’t in everyone’s best interests.  And the utility companies will be on the hook to make sure that you and I are saving energy.

And let’s not forget about taking the “program” international.  You got it, it includes working (read:  funding) with the U.N., too.

All of this will be paid for, of course, by our hard-earned tax dollars.

And yet, reports are now coming out of Australia that the Antarctic ice cap is growing, providing another obvious contradiction to the popular myth that the Earth is getting warmer.  About as obvious a contradiction as the snowfall shutting down Denver as I write this piece, eh?  Curiously, the House bill states those dangerous gases “may not be regulated as criteria pollutants or hazardous air pollutants on the basis of their effect on global warming”.  But take heart, global warming devotees and those alleged environmental protection groups so utterly dependent upon the donations of those global warming devotees!  Despite this administration’s continuing negative impact on the United States economy and therefore the lives of its hard-working citizens, there is one wee light glimmering at the end of the tunnel.  And I’m not talking about the House bill that was introduced on April 2, 2009 that intends to use our hard-earned tax money so that the government can “educate” everyone about the dangers of global warming.  No, indeed.  What I’m here to tell you is that you, too, can get rich from global warming!  There’s a little-discussed provision to amend Section 304 of the Clean Air Act that was tossed into the House’s draft climate regulation bill that will allow ordinary citizens to sue the federal government if they feel they have suffered – or simply “expect” to suffer – from those EPA-declared-as-dangerous greenhouse gases or even negative effects from “climate change”.

Just wait until your spouse rolls over in the middle of the night and snores in your face, thereby showering you with all that evil carbon dioxide.  Forget all that nonsense about second-hand smoke, don’t you realize that just the fact that someone breathes makes them dangerous?  Now if you don’t like the fact that large numbers of people gather together, you can claim you are in harm’s way because they are  increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in that area.  All you have to do is file a lawsuit and Pater Obama will come to the rescue and pay you damages.   Of course, there’s only enough funding being requested to give 20 people that $75,000 damages award each year.

Little surprise leftover, then, when the latest Obama appointee, a confirmed left-wing radical with direct ties to George Soros and now working in the Defense Department (can you say “dangerous oxymoron”?), is suggesting a plan to bail out newspapers that will only server to accelerate their inability to perform honest and fair reporting by putting them directly under the control of the federal government.

Change To Keep

I was there.  Were you?

Perusing the news outlets this morning was a sadly enlightening confirmation of what I’ve seen happening the last few years.  The mainstream media either ignored or, finally and with disgustingly crude profanity, derided it outright, but unlike the progressive liberals, those who actually support the United States – and their fellow Americans – by working and paying their taxes booked time off from their jobs or used their lunch hour to attend the first of the American Tea Parties.  Undaunted by the latest humdinger label of “right-wing extremist”, average citizens (including even union members who see the same waste in paying more and more taxes as they see paying union dues) gathered together and marched on state capitals and city halls from sea to shining sea in a demonstration of their anger at the fact that, best described by a bumper sticker being handed out at the one I attended, “Taxation WITH representation is tyranny”.

It was a lovely sight, that of thousands of my fellow Americans exercising their rights to peacefully assemble and speak freely.   All told, the count of participants  headed up towards a million people.  On a workday.  In the middle of the week.

That’s the kind of change we can keep.

Think About This

April 14, 2009 By Joan of Snark

Everyone can’t help but think about money these days.  We’re seeing less of it in our paychecks, we’re spending more of it for goods and services, we’re paying more of it in taxes (yes, Virginia, this year’s stimulus credit will be next year’s tax liability), and it continues to be news every day as Wall Street continues to wobble like a Weeble and Pater Obama and the Family take over more and more of private enterprise.

As it has been noted here and elsewhere in the non-Democrat-dependent media, the government got us into this mess in the first place and, throughout modern history, when the government makes a financial mess, they’ve never yet been able to clean it up.  Since this administration is using previously-failed tactics, there’s no reason to think we’re going to come out of the current crisis with anything that resembles the original United States of America.

There have been rumblings for some time that the “average person” isn’t really savvy enough when it comes to investing, and various proposals hit the table time and again about how the government should step in and save them from themselves.  If you believe that, folks, I have another bridge to nowhere for sale.

Here is a good piece that helps put remove the liberal’s hocus-pocus and puts the reality of the government’s deep dive into the private sector  into better focus.

Destined to Repeat?

April 12, 2009 By Joan of Snark

It’s been said that those who do not understand history are doomed to repeat it.  And so it is that the Obama administration has ushered in not an era of hope and change but, frighteningly, is instead now putting the seal onto the very worst that humans have devised in terms of government.

Consider the two great motivators:  fear and hunger.  They have always been, and are now, how the calculating turn a temporary crisis into a permanent one.  As we look back to the stock market collapse in 1929 and the Great Depression that followed to find a clue about how to solve the problems on Wall Street and with our banks today, it becomes more clear that the roots of both those and today’s ills first took hold earlier in the early 20th century.  Self-proclaimed “Il Duce”, aka “His Excellency Benito Mussolini, Head of Government, Duce of Fascism, and Founder of the Empire”, was a high-profile “progressive” (like Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, FDR; and now Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton) and before things went south was admired by the likes of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, uber-pundit Will Rogers, and praised by the eternally-liberal New York Times:  “Mussolini is a Latin Teddy Roosevelt, who first acts and then inquires if it is legal.  He’s been a great service to Italy at home.”  In the beginning, even Winston Churchill called Mussolini “the greatest living lawmaker.”

Yet for all the fawning admiration of the American “intellectual elite”, Benito Mussolini set Italy on the side of Germany to became part of the Axis during WWII.  Eventually, at the urging of his own son-in-law, the Italian parliment ousted Il Duce and restored full constitutional powers to the king.  It was Marshal Pietro Badoglio who then secretly dissolved the Italian Fascist Party and negotiated an armistice with the Allies, signed on September 3, 1943.  Despite the resulting turmoil, Italy finally declared war against Nazi Germany and the rest, as I shall call it, is common history.

Progressive poster boy Benito was summarily executed in April 1945 by Communist Italian partisans, then his body was hung upside-down in the Piazzale Loreto in Milan for public viewing, to assure people the monster was really and truly dead.  Along with his lover and 13 other high-ranking Fascist officials, and some other Fascist hanger-ons.

The “progressive movement”, then, that darling of the Ivy League “intellectual elite”, is the answer to the question, “How did America get here?”

Glenn Beck put together a recent show that explores the parallels.  Please watch.  Please learn.  Then, please, stand up and help us return America to her foundation.  For as will become obvious, the progressive movement and narcissistic siblings socialism and fascism, didn’t work then and, as Americans know first-hand,  it is not working now.

Where Will You Be April 15th?

April 11, 2009 By Joan of Snark

The mainstream media is trying very hard to ignore it.  Some self-proclaimed pundits are calling it a fad without a cause.  Democrats are calling it a vain attempt by the Republican party to gain support.  Congress is, in a most rare demonstration of restraint, remaining most unusually silent.

Well, no matter what you want to call it and no matter if you choose to not see it, American disgust with our government is brewing like a kettle on a hot stove and April 15th is scheduled to be the first showing that tempers having reached the boiling point.

Unlike the first tea party, this one will be – by intention – bloodless.  And perhaps it is that seeming quietness that causes those who prefer raucous excitement, those armchair warriors who like to watch man’s inhumanity to man from the safety of their living rooms, to dismiss it as not being somehow “newsworthy”.

They couldn’t be more wrong.

This country is in serious trouble.  For almost 100 years we have been shepherded by those who use that tantalizing little word “progressive” to coerce ever-innovative and inventive, dreaming Americans to accept one loss of freedom after another.  To slyly encourage a collective disregard for the basic foundation of this country – the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – in favor of some false handout of a chicken in every pot, always hiding the fact that they have quietly been killing off the chicken farmers.

The end has come.  Those who would destroy America for their own nefarious purposes have finally been exposed for the hypocritical, dangerous traitors that they are.  Americans can clearly see those who, contrary to their mothers’  warnings, have gone out in public wearing dirty underwear.  And it ain’t a pretty sight.

So on April 15th Americans will gather together under the symbolism of the original Tea Party.  They will gather in protest of government grown beyond recognition, grown far, far beyond original intent.  They will gather to send a message that what we are for is the cessation of spending for entitlement and for a return of our basic rights.  They will gather whether or not the media chooses to report on it because the message is not for the media, it is for the behemoth that is become our government.

Where will you be on April 15th?  I would hope that you will spend an hour with those who share your anger and your fears for both your future and that of your children, that you will do the one thing that will get the attention of our myopic “unrepresenting representatives” – assemble peacefully in a great number.  They are not used to seeing our faces; we have become little more than numbers to be pursued for reelection to a cushy job.  But the truth is that they work for us and when they work against us – as is now the case – we must stand up and tell them NO.

We, the people, have no more excuses.  It is time to take back control of OUR government.

See you at the party.
