Just in case it wasn’t already crystal clear to you before today, Nancy Pelosi has again reveals the dangerous mindset of the progressive liberal.  They always know better and a federal government filled with them can manage your life far better than you can.

It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, “and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill.”

If the last year has taught the average American anything, it is the reality of just how well the federal government has managed the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security, and just how well the federal goverment has managed Medicare.  The average American now understands that both of them were unsustainable ideas from the beginning and that today both are essentially broke.  But that doesn’t stop progressives.

“We’re not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress,” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”

“Time is up.  We really have to go forth.”

So even though the American people have clearly said, no, Madame, we don’t want some more, the Speaker of the Nuthouse thinks it’s time for all the Democrat to join hands, damn the reelections, and full-steam ahead shove socialized medicine down America’s throat.  She and her ilk continue to live in a fantasy world where we, the people, are just a bunch of drooling imbeciles, unable to comprehend what we read and see and to then form our own opinions about it.

“The Republican Party directs a lot of what the Tea Party does, but not everybody in the Tea Party takes direction from the Republican Party. And so there was a lot of, shall we say, Astroturf, as opposed to grassroots.”

And Congress wonders why over 75% of Americans now disapprove of them?  And why Obama’s job approval rating is now running neck-and-neck with the number who disapprove of the job he’s doing?

They remind me of a bumper sticker I once saw.  It read, “Lawyers eat their young.”

Pelosi Beats The Socialized Medicine Drum

CSPAN taped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi talking about the status of the “health care reform” legislation.  In it she states that the “glory days are coming to an end for the health insurance industy in our country.  Their profits are obscene, they have increased enormously over the past few years at the expense of America’s consumers.”

She goes on to gush about how wonderful things will be when the government takes over the business of providing health insurance:

“Think of what that means for the vitality of our economy!  So we can encourage entrepreneurship while people have the confidence they will have health insurance and can take more risk.

“There will be a cap on what you pay to the insurance companies each year, but no cap on the benefits you receive.

“And this makes all the difference in the world.”

That “difference”, dangled like a carrot in front of numbnuts suffering from liberal entitlement-derangement syndrome, is between profit and loss, sustainability and bankruptcy.  If you pay someone a dollar and they give you back ten, they are immediately out nine dollars.  If a hundred people pay someone a dollar and are given back ten, that person is then out $900.  If 1,000 people pay one dollar and get back ten, that person is out $9,000.  And if 300 million people pay a dollar and get back ten, that someone is out $270 million.

It’s a difference that, with the “President leading the way, with us being a drumbeat, an echo chamber of the President’s message,” will kill not only people subject to the government’s control of medicine, but the American economy.

So Just Who Approved This One?

NPR broke the story that a son of Osama bin Laden may have been killed in a late springtime U.S. airstrike in Pakistan.  U.S. officials tell FOX News that Saad bin Laden, who is not considered a significant player in Al Qaeda leadership, was “collateral” damage in an airstrike in Pakistan and was not considered important enough to target on his own.

But as Mona Charen points out at The Corner: 

The Obama administration is carrying out a secret policy of targeted assassinations. They are going after al-Qaeda suspects. Was Congress thoroughly briefed on the details of this hit — time, date, plan of attack? — before the drones were deployed? This is an obvious violation of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Geneva Conventions, the Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the 2008 Democratic party platform.

We need hearings and a special prosecutor.

Or does Nancy Pelosi just need to buy more Dove Bars?

A chart showing one interpretation of the House’s health care reform legislation contained in the official record of the House Ways and Means Committee can’t be sent out to Americans.

Why?

Because the Franking Commission, who decides what mailings Congress pays for, said it isn’t acceptable.

Why?

Ya think that maybe – just maybe – it might be because the chart was put together by Republicans?

Dan Lungren (R-CA) said, “I’ve been told it was above the Franking Commission and our committee. This is not accidental.”

You can bet your last Dove Bar it’s not.

Let’s not forget here that members of the House (and the Franking Commission) are paid employees of the American people and we have every right to know what they are doing.  We, the people, also provide them the funding to mail us information.

She’s Still Talking…

… and she really, really needs to shut up.

Just because her title is Speaker of the House doesn’t mean that Nancy Pelosi must continue to talk about shutting up everyone else who doesn’t agree with her wacked out, socialistic views.  I’m not going to reinvent the wheel here, but instead simply link to a story about her latest attempts to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.  This time by trying to use anti-trust laws.

In case you hadn’t yet noticed, Speaker Pelosi, where you and the rest of this administration are concerned, there’s already more than enough anti-trust to go around.
