D-Day

For four years we’ve used this little platform to point out the errors and failures of our government.  That someone like Barack Hussein Obama could be so easily swept into the office of president of these United States based on nothing more than a deadly and deceitful stint as a senator in Illinois, later admitting to being merely a “composite” of memoirs suspected to have been written by someone else both infuriated and frightened us.  As time went by this man who believes in “partial birth abortions” because the intent of the mother was to kill her unborn child anyway proved his allegiance to nothing that remotely resembles America by sending our border patrol to fight with beanbags while secretly arming drug cartels with some half-baked idea it would push the American people into accepting their version of gun control, directly resulting in the deaths of Brian Terry and Jamie Zapata.  The man who sits down with unelected Chicago cronies each morning to decide who will die that day from a drone strike, with collateral civilian damage be damned, couldn’t be bothered to muster the same force when Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Brian Doherty and Tyrone Woods were fighting Al Queda in vain for their lives in a place that had been called out to the administration numerous times to be lacking adequate security on a day common sense alone would have given them more of it.

This administration and this president in particular have far too much innocent  and literal American blood on their hands.  And far, far too much blood has flowed figuratively from the entitlement-encouraging laws and policies that have trickled down over the last four years to crush both the spirits and the wealth of the middle class.  Not to mention making the poor even poorer and creating even more of them.

Mitt Romney asked the age-old question, “Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago?”  Gas prices are double what they were in 2008, food and other commodity prices are higher; wages, if you are fortunate enough to be making them, are stagnant, homes that haven’t yet been foreclosed on carry underwater mortgages, banks are playing Wack-A-Mole with more and more insidious little fees on checking account while interest on savings accounts are essentially non-existent.  Almost half of the legal citizens in this country pay nothing in federal income taxes but a subset of them, pathetically and ironically goaded on by wealthy Democrats, demand more and more “entitlements” from those who do pay taxes.  We have watched spectacles like a 30-plus year old college student sit in the chambers of Congress and bemoan the fact that her Catholic college – a college she deliberately chose to attend – won’t cover her birth control.  We won’t even go into “Obamaphones” or people on food stamps buying everything but food with them.  Illegal immigration?  Let us count how many Democrat votes result from the administration’s refusal to follow the rule of law and thereby add more cost to the legal taxpayer’s already straining burden.

Simply put, this administration has exceeded even our cynical expections of disaster.  They are a dangerous, deadly lot that scuttles around in the shadows like so many fat rats; blinking senselessly when the light is cast upon them.  That is, when the complicit lamestream media even bothers to “report” anything resembling an objective fact.

They have to go.

All of them.

They blamed the elections of 2010 for creating more “obstructionism” to their enslaving communist manifesto.  Today we can not only obstruct them completely, we can obliterate them.  Send them back into the trash heap of a history that will only note that the last 4 years proved once and for all that socialism is forever a failed experiment.

Vote wisely, my fellow Americans.  Vote for Mitt Romney, vote for every conservative candidate on your ballot from local to state.  It is our last chance to save – to reclaim – what has proved to be the greatest country in the history of mankind.

God bless America.

Walker Wins Wisconsin – Again

Despite their big mouths, strong-arming and literal Mickey Mouse petition signatures, the unions and progressive liberal Democrats have been given their walking papers by the voters in Wisconsin.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

With 65% of precincts reporting, it’s shaping up to be a rather embarrassing defeat:  58% (Walker) to 41% (Barrett).

It makes the last year+ of headline news and handwringing about the dangers of allowing grownups to run state governments rather a waste of time; along with the reported $60+ million spent by everyone involved.

And since everything must always be about President Lame Duck, yes, Barack Obama, this is, indeed, a referendum about you and your supporters and everything for which you stand.  You might want to start getting estimates from moving companies to avoid the rush in November.

White House Lies About Walpin No Surprise

In this administration’s typical Friday night fashion, and conveniently just after Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa released a reporton their investigation into the firing of Inspector General Gerald Walpin last June, the White House released documents that clearly show their actions were, as many originally noted, in retaliation for Walpin’s daring to call out the misuse of funds by President Walking Eagle’s pal, Kevin Johnson.  Insight into the White House scramble to cover their tracks and “prevent and control the damage” is detailed here.

But there’s more to it than just using taxpayer money to pay someone to wash his car.  What has been kept under wraps is that Kevin Johnson was also under investigation for sexual misconduct.  Johnson’s fiancee, D.C. schools chief  (then St. Hope board member) Michelle Rhee, allegedly attempted “damage control”, sending her personal attorney to pay a visit to one of the women who had complained about Johnson and the “congressional report quotes the girl as saying the attorney “basically asked me to keep quiet,” and Johnson offered her $1,000 a month for the duration of her time with St. Hope.  Once investigators learned about that, the report says, they had “reasonable suspicions about potential hush money payments and witness tampering at a federally funded entity.””

Gerald Walpin reported on all of this, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento (namely, Lawrence Brown) decided to only go after the money with about as much force as an old, blind and toothless chihuahua.  Walpin didn’t like this obviously political choice, was strongly critical of the Corporation for National and Community Service and wanted the probe to continue, particularly in light of a new allegation that St. Hope employees might have destroyed evidence.

So in order to protect Barry’s icky little friend, Gerald Walpin ended up under a Chicago bus.

A Business Owner’s Plan For Managing Obama “Change”

There’s often a lot of truth in humor.

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.  To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.  But since we cannot increase our prices  right now, due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead.  This has really been bothering me since I  believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did.  I walked through our parking lots and found  sixty “Obama” bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go.

I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem.  They voted for change, I gave it to them.

I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Signed,
The Boss

Gerrymandering Their Agenda

I don’t know why I continue to be surprised that the progressive liberals continue to grow more and more complacent about exposing their nefarious agenda to enslave American citizens and turn the Republic into a socialist state.

Though the Democrats managed to gain control of New York’s 23rd district, plans are already in place to insure they keep their claws in it.  Forever.  MSNBC’s Larry O’Donnell spilled the beans that Democrats intend to gerrymander NY-23 out of existence, all to benefit neighboring Democrat incumbents (full clip here):

O’DONNELL (04:11 in segment on Maddow MSNBC site titled “Drawing lessons from NY-23”): It is surrounded by Democratic districts, it’s going to get chopped up, and it’s going to be represented by a few other people and the 23rd will no longer exist.

MADDOW: When it does get chopped up, when there is a new 23rd, is it expected to be a Republican or Democratic district?

O’DONNELL: It will be Democrat because what they’re going to do is simply slice into it from the surrounding Democratic seats and preserve all those Democratic seats and, you know, give each one of those districts just enough of the difficult Republican part for them to survive.

I’m sure this ties in to the fact that New York may lose one seat in the House of Representatives after the 2010 census.  But all it tells me is, yet again, Washington really needs a thorough housecleaning.

You Call That Bipartisan?

November 8, 2009 By Joan of Snark

I spent yesterday watching the wankers in Washington, specifically the House of unrepresenting Representatives, debate and then vote on HR 3962, the health care “reform” bill.  A nauseating experience, really; it left me feeling almost shameful, the way one feels after gawking at a trainwreck.  It was clear most hadn’t taken the time to read all of the legislation; few stances or rebuttals were based on facts versus the MSM campaign talking points so every chair’s gavel got a workout as the unrepresenting representatives squabbled like little schoolchildren.

In the end, despite the announcement of 10.2% unemployment and a $1.2 trillion price tag, the Speaker of the Nuthouse got what she wanted.  The bill passed 220 to 215.  It was aided by the defection of Republican Louisana Representative Cao.  True to form, he again fell for the lies of the likes of Rahm Emmanuel and Nancy-Ann Deparle and President Walking Eagle.  Closed-door “promises” of future financial and campaign support were the 30 pieces of silver by which they secured his vote, thereby allowing great crowing about “bipartisan support” for the takeover of the entire field of medicine in America.

But I think “bipartisan” is more clearly shown by the sensible 39 Democrats who refused to vote for this abomination.  Of course, President Walking Eagle’s campaign arm, MoveOn.org, is now loudly raising money and threatening those Democrats in their reelection bids.  My suspicion is,  however, they will fare better than their fair-weather counterparts who voted in favor of HR 3962 after passage of the “Stupak amendment”, which rightly locked down the language preventing the use of taxpayer monies to pay for abortions.  While passage of the amendment allowed some Democrats to vote yes for the containing bill, it is almost a given that the amendment will quietly disappear in committee since allowing it a vote on the floor was only a reluctant appeasement move on the part of Pelosi to get those yes votes.

Dick Morris provides a further peek into the machinations behind the curtain:

  • The American Medical Association (AMA) was facing a 21 percent cut in physicians’ reimbursements under the current law. Obama promised to kill the cut if they backed his bill. The cuts are the fruit of a law requiring annual 5-6 percent reductions in doctor reimbursements for treating Medicare patients. Bravely, each year Congress has rolled the cuts over, suspending them but not repealing them. So each year, the accumulated cuts threaten doctors. By now, they have risen to 21 percent. With this blackmail leverage, Obama compelled the AMA to support his bill…or else!  [ My note:  this endorsement may be repealed, after it was revealed that the AMA did not follow its own procedure for providing endorsements and thereby rightly raised the ire of both members and non-members. ]
  • The AARP got a financial windfall in return for its support of the healthcare bill. Over the past decade, the AARP has morphed from an advocacy group to an insurance company (through its subsidiary company). It is one of the main suppliers of Medi-gap insurance, a high-cost, privately purchased coverage that picks up where Medicare leaves off. But President Bush-43 passed the Medicare Advantage program, which offered a subsidized, lower-cost alternative to Medi-gap. Under Medicare Advantage, the elderly get all the extra coverage they need plus coordinated, well-managed care, usually by the same physician. So more than 10 million seniors went with Medicare Advantage, cutting into AARP Medi-gap revenues.

Presto! Obama solved their problem. He eliminates subsidies for Medicare Advantage. The elderly will have to pay more for coverage under Medigap, but the AARP — which supposedly represents them — will make more money. (If this galls you, join the American Seniors Association, the alternative group; contact sbarton@americanseniors.org This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .)

  • The drug industry backed ObamaCare and, in return, got a 10-year limit of $80 billion on cuts in prescription drug costs. (A drop in the bucket of their almost $3 trillion projected cost over the next decade.) They also got administration assurances that it will continue to bar lower-cost Canadian drugs from coming into the U.S. All it had to do was put its formidable advertising budget at the disposal of the administration.
  • Insurance companies got access to 40 million potential new customers. But when the Senate Finance Committee lowered the fine that would be imposed on those who don’t buy insurance from $3,500 to $1,500, the insurance companies jumped ship and now oppose the bill, albeit for the worst of motives.

The only industry that refused to knuckle under was the medical device makers. They stood for principle and wouldn’t go along with Obama’s blackmail. So the Senate Finance Committee retaliated by imposing a tax on medical devices such as automated wheelchairs, pacemakers, arterial stents, prosthetic limbs, artificial knees and hips and other necessary accoutrements of healthcare.

There is still a long road ahead of this insane, tyrannical Democratic endeavor and while many feel the Senate is a more sensible group and some have assured me it doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of passing there, where money and control are concerned, I’ve no more personal faith in the Senate than I do in those inhabiting the Nuthouse.  To be honest, Harry Reid is just as scary as Nancy Pelosi; they are two peas in a mean and withered old pod, and it will take every bit of Conservative strength to put them soundly in their place.

New Jersey & Virgina See Red

November 4, 2009 By Joan of Snark

Yesterday marked the first major election since last year’s presidential election and proved that not only do Americans want change in how the federal government operates, but that both public and Ivy League educations ain’t all they’re cracked up to be.

As the disillusioned and the gullible have, along with those refused to drink the Kool-Aid, reaped the consequences of choosing a President with far less practical real-life experience than ego, the frightening chants of “Yes, We Can!” have changed to a decisive “No, You Don’t!” and the gloating “I won” has become a curse on those who would continue to follow the progressive path of destruction.

It’s not a stretch to see that the events of the past year have caused blood to shoot from the eyes of average Americans of all political stripes and in loud, decisive reaction, turned 2 blue states to red.  New Jersey, the tacky little sister of Illinois, that poster child of political corruption that spawned the current administration, kicked their incumbent Democratic governor to the curb, while Virginia gave the Oval Office a chilling assessment of its 2008 support by electing Republicans to its top three offices.

No coincidence that in both states, President Obama used the hard-earned money of the American taxpayer to campaign for the Democrat candidates.

It’s heartening to see the American people waking up again.  Though Republicans are, in their own way, as wacked as the Democrats, this shift towards the right is at least a shift in the right direction.  Press Secretary Robert Gibbs dismissively called observations of the shift and its implications for the 2010 elections “navel gazing”, but it is clear to this writer that the administration is only gulping down water from the River DeNial in a desperate attempt to keep its bubble intact, for the truth is that any “gazing” was done by the American people.  We’ve had a whole year to watch the progressive lies unfold ever more blatantly, undermining the foundations upon which these United States was built.  The Tea Parties marked a return to the basics, of civic duty, and those who perhaps used to think their vote didn’t particularly matter are coming to the realization that if they don’t protect and defend the Constitution, no one else will.  Especially not those rats scuttling around the corridors in Washington.

Congratulations, New Jersey and Virginia.  Welcome back to the world of grown-ups.  It’s not easy being responsible for your own welfare, your own future, but your happiness is far more assured than by relying on some man-child and his handlers who would prefer you live bound by chains of dependency upon their egotistical and greedy whims.

The Giant And His “Friends”

September 15, 2009 By Another Responsible American

There is a wind blowing.  A mighty wind. The Giant, long asleep, has awakened to find his home being pillaged in the stealth of night.

And he is angry.

The Giant, who is kind, works hard, takes care of his tribe and usually keeps his own counsel, thought the thieves were Friends. He thought that by taking care of himself and his tribe, and those Friends, he would keep the land safe so his tribe could grow strong and prosper. He gladly paid a small tithe to the Friends, but that is not what they want.  The stores he has put by for the long winter, the patch of ground he has worked, they want all that, too. The Friends want to control the Giant and his tribe, so what the Giant won’t simply hand them they take and steal.  They want the Giant to be dependent on them; he has too much, they say, so they take it and make it theirs.

The Friends have never seen the Giant angry. They ignore him in his protests; they turn a deaf ear to his complaints. He has been quiet too long and that quiet has been taken as complacency. But that wasn’t what it was.  It was simply the Giant going about his business, content with his world, warts and all. He never expected his life to be perfect, but he always had options and choices and he could work with that. He sees now the Friends aren’t his friends; they have been waiting quietly for the Giant to sleep so they may take away what he has worked for, to take away his choice of how he lives. Has the Giant awakened in time?  How greedy have the Friends really become? How far will they go? They have already started to smear the Giant’s good name, to say things about him that are untrue. The Friends have already shown they might use force if the Giant doesn’t cooperate and go back to sleep.

How far will they go?

It has been many, many years since the Giant has had to fight on his own land for his right to be left alone. Can he still do it? For all the Giant holds dear, he must now fight or what he loves will be forever changed.

We, The People, of The United States of America are at the crossroads of one of the most dangerous times in our long history. Is that statement scaremongering? Over the top? I don’t think it is. The wealth of our nation is our wealth, wealth that we have earned. The government has no wealth except for what WE, THE PEOPLE, create.

Think about that.  They are borrowing on what we do, on what we will do in the future, and spending it. It is NOT their money; the government has no money but what they take from WE, THE PEOPLE.

WE are a kind and generous folk, always have been.  Are we perfect? No, we are humans. However, we should always understand and be proud of all the good we do. The money, goods and time we give freely to help others in this country as well as others.  WE, THE PEOPLE, are good folks.  We can’t forget that though they, the government, would like us to forget. They call us greedy and tell us we have no idea not only how to take care of ourselves but how to best use what we have earned though our labor and so they will take it.

This isn’t about the rich,  it is about our rights.  It is about our right to choose how we conduct our lives.  To choose how to to PURSUE our own happiness, how we live day-to-day.

It is about control.

Do we have the guts to fight this? I believe we do and it isn’t just Congress.  It is the local and state governments as well.

How do they play?  Let us count the ways.

Schools go right after busing and anything else they can think of to upset the kids and inconvenience the parents. Yet on closer inspection they have hired more administrators, given them raises, and have spent money on precious little that has to do with actual education. Plus they have to follow unfunded, useless mandates from the state and federal
governments.

At the local and state levels they say “We will cut services”; police and fire go right off the bat, yet spend $500 a pop on office chairs (yes, that happened in my state). Hire more pencil pushers and give everyone raises. Have assistants for assistants; everyone has a state car to drive, and on and on.

The Federal government …won’t even start.

They all have their hand in our pocket.  They all make laws and rules daily that take a bit more of our rights and our ability to pursue happiness.

It is time to stop “The Friends” because our “friend” they are not.

They Don’t Listen Because They Don’t Care

The evidence of American displeasure; indeed, their outright anger with the government of the United States was overwhelming clear yesterday when the Mall in D.C. was filled to overflowing with an estimate million-plus citizens gathered congenially to tell the administration that “enough is enough”.

But as is par for the course of this Obamanation of an administration, those who most needed to see and to hear were conspicuously absent.   President Obama was all wee-weed up on yet another health-care reform campaign stump as far away as he could go without looking too obvious.  All except a very few Congress critters who represent the conservative point of view cowered behind locked doors.

And so with no real perspective by which to gauge the events yesterday, from this morning’s edition of CBS’ “Face the Nation” we get the following statements from White House senior adviser David Axelrod.

“I don’t think it’s indicative of the nation’s mood.  You know, I don’t think we ought to be distracted by that. My message to them is, they’re wrong.”

“I don’t believe that some of the angriest, most strident voices we saw during the summer were representative of the thousands of town hall meetings that went on around the country that came off peacefully, that were constructive, people voicing their points of view. You know, one of the great things about our country is people can express themselves even if they’re not representative of the majority.”

Yo, Davey-boy.  Your proctologist called.

He found your head.

Right next to Barry’s.

We, the American people, aren’t a “distraction” and you have no business telling us that we’re “wrong”.  You work for US, remember?  Those who have been and continue to be the most outspoken in their anger merely had the opportunity to speak for the millions more of us who were unable to attend a summer townhall because our unrepresenting representatives were hiding beneath their desks instead of doing their job.

9/12 IS the nation’s mood.

That means it’s time for you to go.
