In the midst of a recession that some quite correctly debate as being a depression, our country’s news organizations continue to pander to the lowest-common denominator and thereby give the government smokey cover under which to hide their irresponsible actions. Nice example is this piece, posted at Foxnews.com.
Does it really have any bearing whatsoever on what is happening with this nation’s slide down the razorblade that some elected officials are going to now “miss out” on what is alluded to as “fame and fortune” as President Obama continues to make piss-poor choice after piss-poor choice of Cabinet and other administration posts?
Give me a friggin’ break.
This is a perfect example of the media’s proclivity to pander to its own self-interests (i.e. make money selling papers or generating money from advertisers). “Fifth Beatle” stories do nothing more than make the stupid feel as if they are doing their civic duty, participating in something important. Giving them knowledge that does absolutely nothing to help them function as a productive member of society.
Trivia pursuit, indeed.
And you wonder why we’re in such a mess?
