A New DREAM Act

It finally occurred to me how we can handle the problem of illegal immigrants (criminals) in this country.  This should satisfy those who tearfully claim that the allegiance of their “innocent children” is to America by letting them prove it.

When they reach the age of 18, draft every single “innocent child” whose criminal parents brought them here or popped them out here in order to take advantage of the American taxpayer and now wish to jump the line ahead of those following the legal process to become a naturalized citizen.  Their military enlistment would be no less than 4 years of active duty followed immediately by 4 more years of service in the National Guard.  No exceptions.

Take this newly-formed group of soldiers and send them to Mexico to the Mexican government clean out the drug cartels and assist them with restoring order to the country.  (As the most powerful nation on Earth, don’t we owe it to our southern neighbors to help them?)  These soldiers may also be used to secure the border and their experience would give them opportunity to later work for the DEA to help clean out the drug dealers here in the United States.

Upon completion of their enlistment, they may be given one moving van with which to pack up their criminal parents and relatives here and move them back to their native home.  Upon completion of this removal, they may then go through finalization steps for citizenship; however, they will never be allowed to sponsor anyone for entry into the United States.

Those who do not complete their 8 years of military service or complete the removal of their criminal family members within 30 days of completing their military service would be promptly deported.

This would serve to make Mexico the land the peace-loving and honest Mexican citizens want and would reduce the costs to the United States of going through several million deportation hearings and removals, as well as save billions in the hidden costs of fighting the increased crime and the medical care and welfare payments we are now providing to criminals.  It would also remove the incentives for others with criminal intent to enter the country illegally and well as slow the flow of illegal drugs and more criminals into the United States.

Scrambling To A Weekend Vote On HR 3962

Have YOU read all 1,900-plus pages of HR 3962 yet?  Introduced not quite one week ago, it’s doubtful that all of the unrepresenting representatives in the House have, either.  But nonetheless, debate and a vote is being scheduled for Saturday.

I’ve been reading the bill and analyses of it, and as stated earlier, it’s a disaster.  And I’m being very, very kind.  The devil is, of course, in the details, and common sense tells us that when key details remain unresolved it’s pure insanity to force a vote.  But Washington today is purely contrived insanity, designed to baffle Americans into submission so, personally, I’m not the least bit surprised.

But let’s consider a couple of those critical details; the ones the Democrats want to gloss over since they are well aware the majority of tax-paying Americans want nothing to do with them.

Abortion funding:  there is still no language specifically excluding federal funding for abortions.  There is talk about denying it but including language saying women could pay for an abortion themselves, but that doesn’t exclude the woman’s insurance plan from receiving federal funds.  Adding a “third party” to handle the financial transactions is just needlesslly padding someone’s wallet without addressing the issue.  Bottom line:  a gimmick does not an exclusion make and tax-payer money may be sent around twisting corners to pay for abortions.

Illegal immigrants:  House leaders with an eye on 2010 elections desperately want illegal immigrants to be able to buy health insurance from their government option.  Bottom line:  what part of “illegal” do they still not understand?  Enforce the immigrations laws on the books; don’t force American taxpayers to subsidize the health care of criminals.  To even suggest that criminals paying their own premiums is somehow ok is a most blatant blowing of smoke in the faces of real Americans.  It proves only that those in Washington, Democrats espcially, really and truly believe the American people are stupid.  Health insurance premiums do not now and will never cover the entire cost of anyone’s medical care.  No matter how you try to spin it, this leaves the rest of us picking up the tab to give criminals a benefit of citizenship.

Bottom line of the bottom line:  exactly where in the United States Constitution does it mandate this kind of legislation anyway?  That this isn’t even being question or debated is a sign that everyone in Washington needs to go.  Now.

The Danger Looming With The 2010 Census

August 12, 2009 By Joan of Snark

You aren’t seeing this in the mainstream media, but a piece in the Wall Street Journal spells out the grim consequences looming with the way the government is planning to handle the outcome of the 2010 census.  Here’s the bottom line:

According to the latest American Community Survey, California has 5,622,422 noncitizens in its population of 36,264,467. Based on our round-number projection of a decade-end population in that state of 37,000,000 (including 5,750,000 noncitizens), California would have 57 members in the newly reapportioned U.S. House of Representatives.

However, with noncitizens not included for purposes of reapportionment, California would have 48 House seats (based on an estimated 308 million total population in 2010 with 283 million citizens, or 650,000 citizens per House seat). Using a similar projection, Texas would have 38 House members with noncitizens included. With only citizens counted, it would be entitled to 34 members.

Of course, other states lose out when noncitizens are counted for reapportionment. According to projections of the 2010 Census by Election Data Services, states certain to lose one seat in the 2010 reapportionment are Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania; states likely (though not certain) to lose a seat are Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio could lose a second seat. But under a proper census enumeration that excluded illegal residents, some of the states projected to lose a representative—including our own state of Louisiana—would not do so.

Taking a census is not a bad thing; we are a vast sprawl of a country and to know how many people reside here is necessary so that those things for which the federal government is Constitutionally responsible may be effectively accomplished.  (Yes, “effectively” is a stretch since the federal government has so overstepped its bounds, but stay with me here.)

That the United States government intends to allow the presence of illegal immigrants, deliberate criminals who by definition are in no way entitled to the privileges of an American citizen, to dictate the representative makeup of Congress boggles the mind.  It dangerously erodes the very foundation of the idea of state sovereignty;  when a state like California that, by its own choices, coddles high numbers of illegals it forces other states to pay for their resulting problems by ending up with greater voting influence in Congress.  Voting influence that determines where the hard-earned tax dollars of the residents of other states are sent.

Simply put, it rewards bad behavior and hurts those states that act responsibly.  Even more simply put, if you are not from California (or Texas), THIS DIRECTLY HURTS YOU.

In 1790, the first Census Act provided that the enumeration of that year would count “inhabitants” and “distinguish” various subgroups by age, sex, status as free persons, etc.  Inhabitant was a term with a well-defined meaning that encompassed, as the Oxford English Dictionary expressed it, one who “is a bona fide member of a State, subject to all the requisitions of its laws, and entitled to all the privileges which they confer.”

The Constitution, in Article 1, Section 2 states that “The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”  Although simple counting for the original purpose of apportioning State Representatives has morphed into an enormous trivial pursuit, I don’t think it is asking to much of the government to use said trivia appropriately.   The U.S. Code, Title 13, Chapter 3, Subchapter V, Section 101 states that:

(a) The Secretary may collect decennially statistics relating—

(1) to the defective, dependent, and delinquent classes; and
(2) to crime, including judicial statistics pertaining thereto.

(b) The statistics authorized by subsection (a) of this section shall include information upon the following questions, namely: age, sex, color, nativity, parentage, literacy by race, color, nativity, and parentage, and such other questions relating to such subjects as the Secretary deems proper.

(c) In addition to the decennial collections authorized by subsections (a) and (b) of this section, the Secretary may compile and publish annually statistics relating to crime and to the defective, dependent, and delinquent classes.

Translated, this means the government has the legal right to count the number of illegal immigrants in the United States.  Frankly, they should then use that data to remove them, not to reward criminals and states like California who harbor them in great numbers by giving them a voice in the House of Representatives.

Are You Willing To Trade Your Mother For An Illegal Immigrant?

July 7, 2009 By Joan of Snark

The House is now on a mad dash to health care reform.  And when the House rushes anything, as has been the behavior of all of Congress during this administration, you can bet your mama’s last remaining years that they’ll go bye-bye as surely as your hard-earned tax dollars are disappearing under the cloaks of stimuli and bailouts.  And when what Congress is rushing is health care, your mama’s last remaining years will probably disappear even faster.

The Hill reports that House Democrats are hastily patching together what they are going to euphemistically call a bill that can be voted on in committees next week.  And they intend to set a new world land record by voting on the whole, bloody mess by July 31st.  They’re propping up the major players (Energy and Commerce Chair Henry Waxman, House Education and Labor Chairman George Miller, and Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel) to put on dog & pony shows starting today, complete with smoke & mirror meetings with rank-and-file members broken out by region, ostensibly to solicit their input and concerns.

Of course there will be no real determinations on how to pay for it all, including their pet “public option” and coverage for illegal immigrants.

A large portion is expected to come from reductions in Medicare and Medicaid.  But that won’t pay for the full overhaul.  As for raising money, ideas have included a national sales tax, taxing soda and a “surtax” on people making more than $250,000.

I fully anticipate thousands of pages that will go unread, with a “conservative CBO” estimate well in the trillions of non-existent dollars to implement.  But the larger costs will come from the trashing of yet another private sector, an area that is a personal, individual responsibility and one in which the government has no place.

La Raza Now Featured On McDonald’s Menu

At the end of April, La Raza made an interesting little announcement:

MCDONALD’S® ANNOUNCED AS TITLE SPONSOR OF THE 2009 NCLR ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Washington, DC—NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, today announced McDonald’s as this year’s Title Sponsor of the 2009 NCLR Annual Conference, which will be held July 25–28 at McCormick Place West in Chicago, Illinois.

“We are delighted to have McDonald’s as this year’s Conference Title Sponsor. Their support and alliance, even in these tough economic times, will help contribute to this key event for the Hispanic community,” said Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO.

“At McDonald’s, we are honored to welcome and support NCLR in bringing its Annual Conference to our hometown. We applaud NCLR for its unwavering leadership and work to address critical issues affecting the Hispanic community,” said J.C. Gonzalez-Mendez, President of McDonald’s Latin America and a member of the NCLR Corporate Board of Advisors. The NCLR Annual Conference is the single largest gathering of its kind in the Latino community. More than 25,000 community organization leaders, activists, and volunteers; elected and appointed officials; members of the corporate, philanthropic, and academic communities; senior citizens; college students; and youth are expected to participate this year.

McDonald’s USA, LLC, is the leading foodservice provider in the United States serving a variety of wholesome foods made from quality ingredients to millions of customers every day. More than 80% of its 14,000 U.S. restaurants are independently owned and operated by local franchisees. For more information on McDonald’s, visit www.mcdonalds.com or log on at any of the 10,000 Wi-Fi-enabled McDonald’s U.S. restaurants. Visit www.nclr.org/conference to learn more about the 2009 NCLR Annual Conference.

With the Obominable health care reform disaster now looming on the Congressional horizon, and armed with the knowledge that La Raza is fighting to force hard-working, tax-paying American citizens to give away nationalized health care to the 22+ million illegal aliens in this country (“better than amnesty” for criminals, they say), we say the stars have aligned to allow every patriot to show their true colors and make their voice heard.

BOYCOTT MCDONALD’S FROM JULY 19th THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH

And don’t forget to politely let them know why they are not receiving your business.  It is important they understand that there are consequences to actions and when a business makes a bad decision it will cost them money.  In this case, half a month’s worth of money.

  • Call them:  1-800-244-6227
  • Write them:  McDonald’s Corporation, 2111 McDonald’s Dr., Oak Brook, IL 60523
  • Email them by clicking HERE

Sample comment:  I want you to know that I will not be visiting any of your restaurants during the second half of July because McDonald’s has chosen to sponsor this year’s National Council of La Raza annual conference.  The NCLR is working closely with Senator Mendendez to have illegal immigrants covered in the administration’s push for health care reform and I believe that this attempt to reward criminals is not only wrong, but it is unfair to legal, tax-paying Americans.  To sponsor such a group was a bad business decision on the part of McDonald’s and I am therefore choosing to not spend my hard-earned money to reward it.

Feel free to share this post and encourage those you know to do the same.

Health Reform La Raza Style – Giving Health Care To Non-Citizens

July 1, 2009 By Joan of Snark

As surely as that the wolf of socialized medicine wearing sheep’s clothing of health care reform means death to the elderly and others deemed not “cost effective” to treat, the legislation now brewing is going to be chock-full of pork and served with an enormous helping of spin, smoke and mirrors.  And of serious concern is the once-covert push to cover illegal immigrants.

At the forefront of this nastiness, prelude to adding 22+ million people to what is already a bloated and broken system, is the infamous La Raza.  It bills itself as “The largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, the NCLR works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans.”

Nice.  But in the land where equal opportunity is law, not necessarily necessary.  It’s just another way to draw attention to differences and establish a subculture of permanent victims instead of simply living the fact that we’re all Americans looking to create a good life for ourselves and our children.

But I digress.

La Raza is apparently in bed with Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), one of the key people involved in drafting the Senate’s version of a “health care reform bill”.  Mark Levin had a caller on his show recently who attended a La Raza conference and here are their words:

…they started the conference out by saying “America does not need health care reform, but Latino immigrants need health care reform.”And they also said that 75% of the children who will be picked up in this will be non-citizens and that 44% of the uninsured are non-citizens and they can’t possibly allow the American people to know this.”

And someone from Menendez’ office promised that he would make sure that “the useless barriers of citizenship would not be in this bill” and that he would make sure that they would use keywords like “streamline”…

It was La Raza, the Childrens Defense Fund and Senator Menendez from New Jersey, a representative from his office…

They actually got up and said “Latino children need health care more than whites“. And then they would say things like “you must go out into your communities, use words like ‘streamline’, use phrases like ‘all workers’ and ‘all families’,” because they said — and I quote — “If the American people find out that this bill is about giving health care to non-citizens, they will rise up against it.”

…One of the quotes they said was, “We want to make sure we take care of barriers like verification, but we can streamline programs to the more affluent” and, quote, “Useless treatments for the elderly can be gone because we don’t need to spend money for people who are going to die anyway.”

That’s a direct quote from that meeting. They also said, “We are very concerned there will be an effort to include “the illegal immigrants in this argument, so “we must make sure that we focus this” to the American people that it’s looking like we want “health care for everyone”.

Menendez’ office said that he’s going to make sure that “a family of four that makes $66,000 a year or less will pay nothing at all for the new health care. And he was the one who said he was going to get rid of specifics like “citizenship status” and focus on, quote, “equity for all workers”.

And he said he’s going to make sure that the Latino immigrants are the focus of the health care reform.

And La Raza said if they get this, they don’t even care about amnesty, because they’ve fixed it so that one family member can apply for all extended family members.

It’s time to let our Senators and Representatives know that we know what they’re up to here and tell them in no uncertain terms that including illegal immigrants – criminals – in anything paid for with our tax monies is wrong.

We’re Aren’t As Stupid As You Think, Mr. President

In his Saturday message, President Obama said that the people who attended his townhall meetings in California this week “weren’t as concerned about the news of the day in Washington as they were about the very real and serious challenges their families face every day”.

Perhaps he was following Nancy Pelosi’s lead and addressing illegal immigrants who don’t speak English well or at all, or perhaps it is merely testament to the depth of the financial mess in California, created in part by taking care of all those illegal immigrants, but the “ordinary Americans” with whom I speak on a daily basis are extremely concerned about what’s going on in Washington.  They watch the spiraling debt, the dropping Dow, past and future generations of good money being thrown after bad; they watch those who should be most concerned about the mess they have created spending their time lobbing self-perceived pithy comments at radio hosts and television commentators or making hurtful jokes, and alternately shake their heads in amazement or shudder in revulsion.

The “ordinary Americans” with whom I speak on a daily basis know full well that what goes on in Washington holds grave ramifications for not only this, our beloved country, but for them, as individuals.  They understand that it is impossible to spend money that you don’t have to pay off debts you don’t need to incur, they understand that government involvement in private business is socialism, they understand that hamstringing those who own companies by ever-increasing taxes on their incomes and unionizing their businesses spells death to free enterprise, personal choice, and everything upon which this country was founded.  They understand that our sovereignty is threatened by the President’s enchantment with the U.N., and that our safety is threatened by a foreign policy that even – shamefully – the Ayatollah Khamenei rightly derides, saying, “They chant the slogan of change but no change is seen in practice. We haven’t seen any change.”

Yet President Obama continues to dare to carry on campaigning about fixing the “fiscal mess” he and the Congress critters inheirited – from themselves.  He expects to send the deficit to some $9.3 trillion in 10 years yet cut it in half in what he euphamistically now refers to as his “first term”.

We, the “ordinary Americans”, watch and we listen, and then we, the “ordinary Americans”, hope and we pray that the gods help us all and give us the time we need to vote this kind of audacity out with a thorough house cleaning in Washington.
